Avenues for Autism shares the incredible journey of those we serve and whose lives have been changed thanks to our generous donors. We hope you enjoy our January 2026 issue of Exceeding the Limits!
I’m a proud mom of two wonderful boys with autism. As they’ve grown, they’ve wanted to try new things, but sensory sensitivities, especially crowds and loud noises, make outings difficult.
Greyson was diagnosed at age 2 with level 3 nonverbal autism. He has significant sensory challenges, avoiding loud sounds and often covering his ears. He gets easily overwhelmed in public, so we focus on creating enjoyable experiences at home as much as possible.
Jayce was diagnosed at age 3 with level 3 autism and is now 5 years old. Speech has been a challenge for him since infancy, and he’s working hard toward his goals. Jayce has severe sensory issues in public places and even during car rides. Having sensory-friendly items at home is invaluable, so we requested support from Avenues for Autism to create a fun, safe place for our boys to play in their own backyard.
The Suzanne Tyner Autism Fund has supported our family in so many ways! We have watched our kids grow and reach new goals thanks to the many resources provided to us. The boys are learning how to interact with other children on slides and swings, especially after receiving their very first swing set from the fund last year. We were also given our first wagon, which allows us to go places safely and without worrying about them running off. And I can’t say enough about the sensory spinning chairs, they’re still a favorite every single day. Avenues for Autism has been a true blessing to our family, and I can’t thank you enough for all you do and for loving our kids. You are truly the best.
Love the Carroll family.
